The City of Dearborn has invested more than $25 million since 2021 in Rouge River flood-preparedness and stormwater work, including clearing more than 50 logjams along a 2.5-mile stretch of the river that lowered water levels by over a foot and increased storm-flow capacity by roughly 70%. The city also publishes its own home-improvement and construction permit guidance covering additions, decks, and other backyard structures.
